Waste Compliance

Gibson manufactures products which we hope our customers will enjoy for years to come. We ensure our products are manufactured to the highest standard. Unfortunately it is inevitable that waste is produced during our products’ lifecycle but we aim to reduce waste production and seek to minimize the waste we send to landfills. If waste is produced we support the correct and efficient handling of it.

We comply with all applicable environmental laws and regulations. To be compliant, Gibson Europe works in various countries with external stakeholders and has registered with several compliance schemes (please view below). As such, Gibson Europe carries out the recovery and recycling obligations of its products and contributes financially to a more sustainable planet.

If you have questions on the reuse and environmentally sound treatment of our products, please contact us here. We are happy to advise on the correct handling, disassembly and recycling of our products, we can also provide information on components and materials and potentially hazardous substances.

Some of our products contain electronic/electrical components and may have batteries which fall under the WEEE: European Community Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment or Batt: The Directive 2006/66/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 September 2006 on batteries and accumulators and waste batteries and accumulators. The packaging we use to ensure that you receive our products in perfect condition fall under Pack: The European Packaging and packaging waste directive 94/62/EC (1994).

If products have electronic/electrical components and/or batteries please note:

− The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol on your product, battery, literature, or packaging reminds you that all electrical and electronic products and batteries must be taken to a separate waste collection location at the end of their working life.

− Do not dispose of WEEE products with your household waste, but see if you can return the product to the seller/distributor. In many cases in EU countries, “Distributor take-back obligations” apply for WEEE products. For batteries it is often possible to return these free of charge to the point of sale.

− Substances in electronic/electrical/batteries components may be harmful to human health and nature. We would appreciate your efforts and contribution towards recycling and recovery.

− Of course, always ensure that you remove batteries from EEE products first.
